Dr Mary Sommerlad is a UK trained, Consultant Dermatologist based in London. She sees children
and adults in her substantive NHS post. She is passionate about Dermatology and in particular empowering people to have the best skin they can by offering an inclusive patient centred, holistic approach to skin care and skin health.
Dr Mary studied medicine at University College London (UCL) where she obtained a First Class intercalated BSc in Immunology at UCL and was awarded the British Society of Immunology Undergraduate Prize. During her time as a medical student she obtained the Prize for Society & the Individual. Dr Mary graduated from UCL with a Merit in Clinical Practice and undertook rigourous training programmes in London and the South East.
Dr Mary undertook her Specialist training in Dermatology within the prestigious Royal London and Royal Free rotation. During her training she was awarded the Royal Society of Medicine monthly registrar prize in 2013 and 2014 and the Hugh Wallace Junior Registrar Prize 2012- 2013. She gained extensive experience in the management of chronic, acute and emergency Dermatological conditions as well as clinical trials.
Dr Mary has presented at National and International conferences and she has several publications in leading peer reviewed academic journals including the British Journal of Dermatology.
Dr Mary is passionate abut empowering patients, healthcare professionals and the general public to make the right decisions for their skin health through education and engagement. She has designed and contributed to Patient education, Nurse education and GP education programmes.
As a consultant Dr Mary’s interests are Eczema, Acne, Rosacea, Pigmentation problems such as melasma and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, Hyperhidrosis, moles checks, paediatric dermatology and skin care. She performs a variety of dermatological procedures including skin surgery and steroid injections.

Nina created CFAH following the birth of her second child. She was a science and math teacher for 6 years prior to becoming a parent — teaching in schools in White Plains, New York and later in Paterson, New Jersey.
